Our Emerging Indigenous Scholars Pathway extends support through scholarships, academic Chairs, and knowledge networks to Indigenous scholars throughout their academic trajectories, ensuring they receive guidance and resources to thrive in their graduate studies and beyond. We also ensure Indigenous researchers are supported by a community of practice in Indigenous research methods.
Through this pathway BKC aims to support Indigenous self-determination by empowering Indigenous community-based researchers through two mechanisms:
Acknowledging that Indigenous and non-Indigenous academic capacities play an important role in advancing knowledge braiding, and
Acknowledging that the development of Indigenous knowledges and scholarship occurs on the land, in the communities, outside of Western institutions, and has for millennia.
