Research Program Objective

To achieve this objective, BKC will:

1.
2.

Our Knowledge Hubs

Knowledge Hubs are place-based and distinction based centres of research, knowledge generation, and synthesis. BKC funds 13 Place-based Knowledge Hubs and 3 Distinctions-based Knowledge Hubs.

Place-based Knowledge Hubs

Sustain and Expand a National Network of Indigenous-led and co-led Place-based Knowledge Hubs.

BKC funds 13 Place-based Knowledge Hubs, which are geographically and thematically balanced across Canada. These Hubs align closely with federal science priorities through their board and inclusivity, and they focus on interrelated themes, such as conservation, restoration, adaptation and well-being.

Distinctions-Based Knowledge Hubs

Support Distinctions-Based First Nations, Métis and Inuit Knowledge Hubs.
3 Distinctions-based Knowledge Hubs are advancing First Nations, Métis, and Inuit-led knowledges, training, and impact priorities, while also connecting local initiatives with braided knowledge approaches and federal science responsibilities and priorities.
