The activities of the Distinctions-Based Knowledge Hubs are aimed at advancing Canada’s environmental research through knowledge braiding by supporting First Nations, Métis, and Inuit Knowledge Hubs.
There are currently three Distinctions-based Knowledge Hubs, advancing First Nations, Métis, and Inuit-led knowledges, training, and impact priorities, while also connecting local initiatives with braided knowledge approaches and federal science responsibilities and priorities.
BKC is working with National Indigenous Organizations to develop, support and evaluate distinctions-based Hubs.
Objectives of the Distinctions-Based Knowledge Hubs:
Enable Indigenous-led and co-led research to advance equity and opportunity in environmental research
Advance the discipline of environmental change science through product output
Communicate improved ways of working within research teams
