Funding can be requested for a single year (2027\/28) or for two years (2027\/28; 2028\/29)<\/b>. This call for proposals is open to currently funded BKC initiatives, whose funding ends this fiscal year, <b>as well as<\/b> new initiatives not previously funded by BKC .<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-28db237 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"28db237\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d5c1d59 about-links elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d5c1d59\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3><b>Knowledge Hubs<\/b><\/h3><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Knowledge Hubs are place-based Indigenous-led or co-led collaborations that include research, training, and knowledge mobilization components that promote conservation, restoration, adaptation, and well-being. Knowledge Hubs:\u00a0<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Co-produce braided knowledges;engage community members, including Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Guardians, and Youth;\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Strengthen local capacity for research, training, and knowledge-application to empower self-determination among First Nations, M\u00e9tis, and Inuit peoples; and<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Promote multi-stakeholder and participatory approaches through co-learning and partnerships.<\/span><\/li><\/ul><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BKC Knowledge Hubs receive a maximum of $125,000 CDN per year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For information, previously funded BKC Knowledge Hubs can be found <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/braidingknowledgescanada.ca\/en\/research\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-41ad4ae about-links elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"41ad4ae\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3><b>Land-Based Learning Programs<\/b><\/h3><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BKCs Land-Based Learning (LBL) program supports immersive urban, rural, or remote learning camps that involve youth and have an emphasis on the braiding of knowledges. Land-based learning programs provide an immersive and transformative educational experience that strengthens connections with Indigenous ways of knowing while weaving together Indigenous and Western knowledges to foster intercultural competencies and creates improved understanding. Initiatives should prioritize land-based learning and knowledge braiding, while learning place-based knowledge from Elders, knowledge holders, and researchers to equip youth with essential skills for personal development, career advancement, and successful employment transitions. Applicants must provide matching funds of a 1:0.8 ratio (i.e., 80% of the budget must be matched from non-federal sources, including both cash and in-kind contributions). For example, if the applicant applies for $50,000 CDN from Braiding Knowledges Canada, they must also outline the source and amount of at least $40,000 in cash or in-kind contributions as a match. Additional guidelines for matching can be found <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/braidingknowledgescanada.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/10\/BKC-Summary-Guidance-for-Funding-v.1-2024-10-22.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ineligible costs include:\u00a0<\/span><\/p><ul><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Costs associated with the construction of, or major renovation to building and structures;<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The purchase or lease of land;\u00a0<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Flat-rate charges for overhead costs (indirect costs); and<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The acquisition of major research equipment (with a net federal cost above $250,000).\u00a0<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7f2552a about-links elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7f2552a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Successful applicants and\/or members of their team are required to attend BKC\u2019s Gatherings in early 2028 (for funding received in 2027\/28) and in early 2029 (for funding received in 2028\/29). Proposals must indicate which of the three possible funding streams they are applying to and how their proposal meets the objectives of that funding stream.
